What is a GoJoe? Have you ever heard of that? Maybe you have ever seen or even used one? The GoJoe is a tool to facilitate board recovery. It is an inflatable body designed to sit inconspicuously between your feet on the board. If you lose your board, the GoJoe will turn your board around for you and catch the wind to propel the board to the lee so that it is never far away from you after a crash or a hard landing.
Some schools and teachers around the world use it; Now the question is ... should you use it? The truth is that it is not always necessary, but it can be useful. It's a great tool for students who are struggling to get the board back or places with strong currents that make it difficult to recover the board.
GoJoe is the perfect solution for people who are afraid to stop using their board leash because they are not 100% master of body drag or because of difficult spot conditions. Many kiters who still use a board leash believe that it is not dangerous because they have not had an accident yet.
If the GoJoe is an idea and concept that you like, but you do not want to invest the money, another alternative is to buy children's wings and inflate a wing around your board. This does not want to be effective, but it wants to help with board recovery and save money.
What do you think? Is a GoJoe worth it to teach? Should everyone use it?
