How meditation and mental visualization can improve your kiteboarding skills.
Meditation has many advantages, like reducing stress in our mind and body or getting ready for kiteboarding. The combination of meditation and kiteboarding is very reasonable in many aspects. One kind of meditation is mental visualization. It consists in focusing on what you want to accomplish and enjoying what you are doing.
Meditation and mental visualization before kiteboarding
Everybody knows about having the head full of other things: job, stress at home, or we are simply restless in our spirit. However we need to be focused when approaching kiteboarding, for the tricks we want to do. Take time and make sure nothing will disturb you for 5 to 10 minutes. Choose a calm place to settle for a moment, sit or lay down comfortably, close your eyes or focus on just one thing around you and keep looking at it. Breathe in and out at the pace and strength that suits you best. You need to relax your body before visualizing the trick you want to land that day. Start by moving your eyes up, as if you wanted to look toward the top of the inside of your skull for a few seconds. Feel the top of your head and start scanning your whole body from head to toe, feeling each part separately. After that, start to focus on that trick and check it step-by-step in your mind. You will see that you are more focused than before.
You can also reduce fear with meditation and improve your self-confidence.
Just prepare some positive phrases that will give you strength and courage, and repeat them again and again. You will think yourself better than before, move with more focus and perceive the wind more accurately. You will be more relaxed after you push the superfluous thoughts out of your mind, so you can start your session with full awareness.
Can I combine meditation while kiteboarding, or is kiteboarding a kind of meditation?
A lot of people choose kiteboarding as a sport to get their head free from unnecessary worries and unwind from daily stress. They enjoy being alone with all the energy of the sea. After a short moment in the water, you can feel the endorphins in your body as you get a twinkle in your eye and feel free. This is a feeling of natural relaxation. Kiteboarding connects us with nature, in this moment you are a part of the sea and that is a kind of meditation, to become one with nature while you thoughtlessly float over the water. You see that the end of the day is coming, and the sun finally sets with the most beautiful glow of color. All this experience helps you forget the stress and clear your mind. You are focused and ready to try the trick that you wanted to. The mental visualization you did before will help you. While doing this trick, you will feel the deepest moment of meditation.
The moment you jump and fly over the water, you are completely free. You are one with the element, you feel alive.
Your mind is free and this unique moment belongs only to you. With a smile on your face, you land on the water after the perfect jump and can focus on your next goal.
