The best way to learn and prepare is by doing. Sometimes when you do not have wind, it is hard to do “kiteboarding” simulations. Though this is where a boat can come in handy. Many spots experience windless periods whether in the mornings or afternoons or even for days and weeks!
During these times you can practice and improve by running simulations that can help develop certain skills for when the conditions are rideable. Not everyone who kiteboards has done a board sport before which means they need to develop their board skills along with kite flying skills. When doing a water start simulation with a boat, this can help people focus on developing board skills.
After someone gets the hang of getting up and out the water a boat can be used to develop further skills like riding toe side, blind, little hops and pops. Running simulations like this especially when it is windless is a great alternative to continue the progression.
Have you ever done a water start simulation using a boat?
