When you first looked at a kiteboarder you probably thought that the person riding was super athletic and strong. Despite what it might looks like - once you learn to kiteboard you understand it has less to do with raw muscle then it does with technique.
Kiteboarders can range anywhere from 6 years old up to 80+ year old individuals. Both boys and girls can easily learn to enjoy this sport no matter what level of “fitness”. The most important part of becoming a kiteboarder is understanding the safety side of the sport and being comfortable in the water.
A certified instructor can take anyone from zero to hero in a matter of hours. This is the beauty of kiteboarding that it is for everyone and as technology advances the sport will become even more accessible. The world currently has a handful of determined “disabled” kiteboarders that are pushing the boundaries by riding, jumping and even foiling.
All this comes to show that it does not matter how fit you are as long as you have the will to learn.
When you first started kiteboarding, did you believe you needed to get “fitter” to ride? We are interested to know in the comment section below-
