Quality First
16 Apr 2012
IKO’s main concerns are security and quality. For this reason, the IKO Quality Assurance department works tirelessly to ensure the IKO Security and Quality Standards are observed to improve a safe service to the kiteboarding community.
2011 Quality Assurance Department Results
In 2011, the IKO focused on security, logo abuse, and misleading information. Other quality interests were reviewed but these were the primary focus of the IKO in 2011. Compliance checks are complete by Examiners during ITCs or organized by the IKO to check on a specific complaint. Complaints can also be reported either by members, the general public directly or through student feedback. If a violation is found, a case is opened.
Last year, seventy-five percent (75%) of the cases in general have been solved, and twenty-one percent (21%) are still pending with only four percent (4%) that could not be solved. The cases solved have been remedied through the removal of the IKO logo and any misleading information about the affiliation of a school; and with warnings as well as suspensions. It emerged that sixty-two percent (62%) of the cases were about logo abuse and misleading information. In some places, schools are promoting themselves as IKO even if they are not affiliated with the IKO. This shows that many schools and instructors are interested in IKO affiliation. We will work on this in 2012 to give more value to our members.
Q.A. Primary Goals for 2012
The IKO Quality Assurance department objectives for 2012 will primarily focus on security. The IKO Quality system will be based on SECURITY FIRST. The goal is to reinforce appreciation from our members as increasing IKO Instructorship quality will lead to security.
Also, in the coming months, the IKO will update the Quality program making it more efficient to initiate a complaint, report or comment. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact us for any complaints or comments you may have. All cases are kept anonymous.
Thanks for your help in keeping IKO Standards high!
