IKO Training Masters Gathering in DR

The last week of March 2012 the Training Team of the IKO gathered together for the first ever TMG Training Master Gathering. IKO’s Training Masters together with the Office team at the IKO Headquarters in Cabarete, Dominican Republic.
The conference covered safety issues, teaching methodology, and the future developments in kiteboarding instruction. Training Masters (TM) are the highest level of trainers, responsible for training kiteboard instructors around the world, a hand picked elite corps of kiteboard trainers. This meeting gave them the opportunity to upload their feedback directly to the Training Department.
David Dorn the IKO Training Director said “Our goal is to use the experience of our training team to improve our system”. “These guys are the best in the business, and their combined experience is a tremendous resource” explained Fred Bene the co-founder and CEO of IKO.
Training Masters constantly receive feedback from their Examiners, who have in turn received the feedback from thousands of IKO Instructors that are active on the front line of kiteboarding instruction. “It is important to share our experiences and learn from others” Said Jon Dodds the TM based in DR. “We teach all around the world and in many different types of situations, so we are constantly learning and adapting our ways” explains Xavier Roussos, a Training Master based in Europe.
The Training masters of IKO received updates and work shopped many concepts that will become part of the evolving IKO ideology. This inaugural TMG was extremely successful and we are now all very excited about the future.
